TOTAL FILM and Sight and Sound are completely different magazines targeted at different audiences. Firstly TOTAL FILM magazine appeals to the big budget films. This is notable as the front cover of this magazine includes a big picture of a Hollywood actress Jessica Alba, who of course is very famous across the globe. The image of Jessica Alba shows her in a sexy, silky posture, wearing red typically associated with love, lust; also she has on a mini skirt, which has similar connotations. The colours used in TOTAL FILM magazine are primary colours such as blue, red, yellow which are used for the text, including capital letters. These colours are big, bold and more eye catching and therefore may have a much bigger appeal. The magazine mentions several things on the front cover such as the range of blockbuster films out soon including Inception, Harry Potter and The A-Team. These films automatically entice reader towards this magazine as these films are including a global audience. The front cover also includes names of big Hollywood stars such as Eva Mendes and Zoe Saldana (who was in the record breaking film 'AVATAR'). My ideal magazine cover will be completely different to that of TOTAL FILM, as my magazine will analyze more independant films, such as the one I will be creating. The magazine cover I will create is more likely to be a Sight and Sound magazine cover as I will try enticing readers to my magazine by the interviews and review it includes in it, rather than big and bright colours used in TOTAL FILM which automatcially catch readers attention.
